The Solitude Pavilion

The Story

A one-room mountain pavilion dissolved into a snow-forest clearing, built from a single material palette and almost nothing else.

The pavilion rests on a plinth of local granite; above it, one continuous room opens to the treeline through a wall of sliding glass. A suspended hearth anchors the centre. The detail budget was spent on the threshold — where snow, timber and warm air meet — because that is where solitude becomes comfort.
